This Day In Dallas Cowboys History: "The Catch"
Candlestick Park-San Francisco, CA
Today marks the day that all NFL and Dallas Cowboys fans know as "The Catch".
49ers quarterback Joe Montana connected with tight end Dwight Clark in the back of the end zone for the game winning touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys.
Clark would finish the game with eight catches for 120 yard and two touchdown.
The Dallas Cowboys still had a chance to win the game but quarterback Danny White was fumbled the football while being sacked by defensive end Lawrence Pillers and defensive tackle Jim Stuckey recovered the ball to seal the 49ers' victory.
The Catch is regarded as one of the most memorable play in NFL history as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28-27 in 1981 NFC Championship at Candlestick Park.
The San Francisco 49ers went on to Super Bowl XVI over the Cincinnati Bengals 26-21.
