NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports that the Dallas Cowboys have or will approach right tackle Doug Free on taking a pay cut in order for the team to receive more salary cap room.

Doug Free is due to make 7 million dollars in salary this year, and the Cowboys would like to lower that so they can sign free-agent offensive tackle Eric Winston.

According to Ian Rapoport Free's salary cap hit and dead-money number are the same with a $10.02 million price tag.

If Free does not agree to the pay cut The Cowboys could designate him as a June 1 cut, which would split his cap hit over the next two years.
