The Dallas Cowboys defeated their division rivals the New York Giants in the Sunday Night Football season opener 36-31 at AT&T stadium. The Cowboys defense forced six Giant turnovers ( five turnovers on defense and one on special teams) but still gave up 450 yards and four touchdowns from Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin had this to say:

"We’ve got to go play. We had the turnovers and all this and that, but we’ve got to play better on defense too. We didn’t play as well as we should have. We won the game and we hung on, but we needed to play better. I think just being in the system and getting to learn what the other guy is doing and understanding the scheme and things like that. We’ve just got to keep getting better."

After Week 1 the Dallas Cowboys defense rank 26th in scoring defense, 30th (478 yds/gm) in total defense, and 31st (428 yds/gm) in passing defense.

Will the Cowboys defense improve or will we continue to see the defense give up chunks of yards to opposing offenses?
