Karl Joseph was a top many pre-season lists when it came to top prospects for the 2016 NFL Draft. He is a guy with some power in terms of hitting ball carriers. There is also some things on tape to show he can make plays in the passing game as well. He got off to his best start this season before a non-contact knee injury cut his season short.
Karl Joseph doesn’t really have the durability issues that some would think being a smaller player in the secondary. While he has the length teams will love, he is smaller in stature. Outside of the knee issue he doesn’t have those questions. Teams will need to do the recheck on Joseph’s knee and which is probably the biggest question for him. You won’t find any red flags on him.
Watching Joseph you get a real feel for what he likes to do. He is a hitter plain and simple. Jeff Cavanaugh of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas compared him to the Miami kid from the Mighty Ducks movies who has no breaks. That is just about as good of a comparison as you will find. He flies to the ball but needs to work on the deceleration. He can miss the target due to the ball carrier using the player using subtle movements to avoid Joseph.
The bottom line is that Karl Joseph is a fiery competitor that gives it his all on the field. He will use all of his 205 pounds when taking on a ball carrier. He has great skills in both run support and ball skills. He will need to have a good medical recheck to become a day two pick but a guy you should want on your defense.
