This Day In Cowboys History: Jerry Jones Buys The Cowboys.

February 25, 1989

On This Day In Dallas Cowboys history a unknown businessman named Jerry Jones purchased the Dallas Cowboys from H.R. “Bum” Bright for $140 million.  Jerry would later fire Dallas Cowboys great Coach Tom Landry and replace him with University of Miami coach Jimmy Johnson.

As Owner, President, and General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones has won three Super Bowl (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX) and won NFL Executive of the Year in 2014.

Under Jerry Jones the Dallas Cowboys organization are one of the most recognizable sports brands in the world. According to Forbes Magazine the Dallas Cowboys are worth an astonishing 4 billion dollars.
